We had another excellent day playing football at The Rock yesterday with a further 20 pupils representing Ysgol Cefn Mawr. We were invited to take part in Cefn Community Councils Cluster and Dee Valley Federation tournament. We entered two very strong teams named Cefn Cobras and Cefn United. The teams performed well with both reaching the semi-final stage where they had to play each other!! Which was a very tough game and we hoped they didn’t injure each other too much with their tackles! Cefn United entered the finals and went onto beat Garth/Pentre/Fron in an exciting game! A huge congratulations to both of our teams who played some very good football and were excellent sports! We are all very proud of you. The team were awarded a medal and the Ken Bathers Memorial Trophy. Tyler Evans (Year 5), also won a trophy for scoring the most goals of the tournament. The trophy was in memory of Mr Darren Bettis from Rhosymedre school – well done Tyler!
A big thank you to Mr Evans for coaching the teams. We all appreciate your hard work. Thank you to Cefn Community Council for the refreshments and T-shirts for the pupils.
